As we have seen throughout the past year, keeping up with demand in the furniture industry has been difficult.
Every effort is made to deliver orders as quickly and as efficiently as possible. We are very grateful and fortunate that our customers have been more than understanding of the circumstances and have been patient and supportive.
Local lockdowns, higher levels of preventative leave of work force and international issues such as delays in receiving raw materials have been a daily challenge for all our suppliers and manufacturers. Coupled with a large jump in demand for furniture, we have had to adjust our delivery times as well as costs.
On certain occasions, additional delays are unanticipated. In that, we -and even the manufacturer- do not know of a delay until it is too late. These situations are particularly challenging as we do strive to report accurate timelines to our customers. Sometimes -like a Canadian spring- the forecast changes.
Most recently, we have been advised that there is a shortage of high-density foam throughout North America and Italy.** The cause of the delay has been directly connected to the winter storm that hit Texas several weeks ago, which disrupted the petrochemical industry, which is the source of key components for the manufacturing of foam. As such, we anticipate all sofa orders to be delayed an additional 3 weeks. Thus, overall timeline will be 12-16 weeks on average.
It is important to note this is an issue affecting all factories and all stores throughout Canada.
We would like to reassure you that all of our manufacturers are in operation, and we are tracking orders directly with our factories on a near-daily basis. Should the situation improve or worsen, we will advise you once we hear back.
